When our Cairn Terrier, Fehrghus, came home from a cheerful afternoon of running pell-mell around the neighborhood with a mouse trap stuck to the top of his head, we knew we had a challenge. He wouldn’t stay in our yard (or even close by) and he wouldn’t “come” when called – no matter what the offered reward. Playing “try to catch me” was his favorite game and “Give me freedom” seemed to be his inbred motto. Aaaaaaaagggggghhhhhhh! What to do? We needed a solution to assure the adorable rascal didn’t run in the street and get hurt.

It then took less than a half hour to train Fehrghus (and us) on using the system. Fehrghus knows to “watch out,”and now gleefully chases chipmunks, but doesn’t go past the boundary. We can let him play outside for hours and be confident he won’t run into the street.

And while we’re still working on his responding to “come,” at least he’s in sight and safe. Terriers of Scottish heritage – exasperating at times, but we love ‘em.

I am writing to tell you how pleased we are with our hidden fence. You and your wife were so easy to work with. Your love for dogs is apparent. Pringles just loved you.

The fence has enhanced our lives so much. Pringles no longer has to be on leash when we are outside. As you know, we are on a very busy intersection and knowing that Pringles is safe is a great relief. He has full use of our 1.5 acres and can roam and sniff till his heart's content.

The fence is very effective. Recently, a neighbor dog came close to our property but Pringles did not even attempt to cross the barrier! We have horses next door, which Pringles always liked to visit (without permission). Now he just observes them and has not even tried to go off his property. It's as though they no longer hold any interest for him.

The training was very easy. The key is consistency. Pringles caught on very quickly and has not fought against his new boundaries.

I researched all options to allow my free-spirited half Great Dane/half German Shepherd to be able to run around the yard. No easy task, considering she had bolted and run away from home several times in the past. Living on 2.5 acres we wanted to give her a lot of room to run. Traditional fencing was expensive, so we looked at all options for an "invisible" or underground fence, ranging from do-it-yourself to the major installers. After reading a LOT of reviews, I chose Dogwatch of the Western Slope.

[DogWatch] came out within a day or so, right on time, and spent plenty of time educating me and getting to know my dogs. There was never any pressure to buy at all; just information. Based on what I felt was a very reasonable price, plus the features of the system such as the ability to adjust warning levels myself and a 2 year battery life in the collar, I chose Dogwatch. Within a couple of weeks I had my system; it only took [DogWatch] a half day to do a complete installation which gave my dog a 1/2 acre perimeter in which to run. The next day [they] came back to step me thru the training process.

I followed the training lessons and the brochure closely. Training is quite simple, requiring only about 10 minutes at a time, twice a day, and is supposed to take from 1-3 weeks, depending on the dog. As my dog had shown an extreme tendency to bolt and run in the past, I was expecting a long learning curve. To my surprise, within 1 week she was off-leash, however you need to understand it may take longer for your animal.

About 2 days after going off-leash, she did break the barrier one time, and one time ONLY, going after a rabbit. She returned to the yard, and that was the only incident we ever had.

We've had the system now for several months and I COULD NOT POSSIBLY BE MORE PLEASED! I really want to emphasize that. My wife and I say over and over it's the best money ever spent. Our dog is a changed animal; happy, playful, excited and OBEDIENT! We let her outside and don't worry about her. We have deer and rabbits and other dogs that come thru our yard and she NEVER breaks the barrier. You can tell she is HAPPY, and of course that thrills us.

I highly, HIGHLY, highly recommend the Dogwatch system and in particular, Dogwatch of the Western Slope if you live in this area. You will NOT regret your decision, as long as you follow the training guidelines.

Our rescue dog Tuba (plot hound) found us on a highway near Tuba City AZ about 3 years ago. Tuba is a hound; he follows his nose. The day we brought him home he ran off chasing who knows what. We heard about DogWatch from our neighbors. We decided to try DogWatch because we were not going to build a regular fence. I honestly had my doubts that an electric fence would hold Tuba in. I am so glad that I was wrong. Tuba has not crossed the line once. That is a miracle considering the deer, elk, chip monks, mice and other dogs that we have running through and around our yard.
